Yes I agree it a refreshing new bar but I think the layout is great with the pinup girls and has class to the placee more than the other joints I had the best pasta there that I ever got in cebu or most of the U S for that matter.I think the place had about 12 chicks dancing I think they need some more but they are certainly above average

I don’t live in Cebu or ever visited, but reading plenty about Cebu lately. Although I am still young, I am looking to retire at some heavenly place. Cebu might be that place.
Few questions…
1. I read recently about “rape” charges brought by bar girls after they spend a night with you. I can totally see the set up, but how likely is it?? Of course, under age is asking for trouble.
2. Like in Mexico, girls steal from you while you are a sleep, and they are adios next next morning no where to be found. How are Cebu bar girls about stealing from hotel room ?? If so, does bar owners have and power to prevent this kind of non-sense since it may not be any good for business.
3. Cebu bar girls are tested often and carry ID card. Does this mean anything or is it really that safe. In Korea, girls are tested and owners are very serious..Why?? Because it’s bad business if STD rumor circulate. Thus Korean bar girls are very safe and nice..How is it in Cebu?? Does getting to know bar owners (mamasans..) worth anything OR do they not care?? In Mexico, they couldn’t careless (even if business suffers)..(that’s why Mexico is poor and Korea is rich). Give me some feed back on safety of girls and STD facts among girls.
4. Is there such thing as foreigner’s bar and local bar ?? Back to Korea, they are separate. Foreigner bar girls make more $$, but don’t mix with Korean bar girls. How’s Cebu bar girls??
5. Lastly, I heard that after bar closes, girls are own their own. Can they go with you without bar fee ?? By the way, 1700 peso bar fee…1000 to girl. Do you have to pay her more next day OR is 1000 peso understood fee for the night ??

I was just at Dimples latter part of December. I had a great time. At first when I walked in, I sat in one of the tall tables and other than the waitress, no one came up to me. I thought about leaving, but lingered for a few more minutes when I was approached by two lovely young lasses. It was quite an enjoyable time, ended up spending over P10k that night. Don’t ask me how, but all I know was that night was a blur.

julianas cons would be:
1.)small dance floor: they should expand it a lil so that altho it gets crowded on the weekends, theres still space to dance and walk around. its to small kasi thats why its hard to get around when its crowded
2.)VIP area: the VIP area doesnt seem like its a VIP spot at all! it just seems like its just another table in the corner!
3.)Restrooms: love the mirrors, but it really would be more presentable if the restrooms were a lot cleaner and well kept.
Julianas pros:
1.)its where all the real hardcore partiers are at
2.)friendly bartenders, bouncers and great service (lol but i guess depende na kung kinsa ka and how big u tip)
3.)i enjoy the contests, its fun watching diffrent typa people dance and have fun or make a fool of themselves

Yes – you can hire a bar girl as a tour guide for a few weeks. As long as you didn’t meet her in the bar where she works, then she is free to go with you without penalty (although many bars, but not all, will give penalties for absence – some of them huge ones).
She’s going to be happy if you give her 1000 peso a day – you should be well looked after. You could probably give her less, but at that price – is there any need to be tight?
Yep, of course girls love and enjoy to have a break for a few weeks with a guy that treats then well – you’ll have a good time, it’s a good idea. Best idea is to visit a few bars first and find a girl that you like – try and find a smart one, it will make your tour easier and more interesting. I guess 3 out of 4 girls would be excited to accept your proposition, but you’ll need to keep a bit hush hush about it in the bar – if the others girls find out, they are likely to blab – which will end up in a huge fine for your girl. After deciding on one you like, be discreet and all should be OK.

Sisters shuts kinda late – especially if you are spending. Normally 3.30am kick out (a little later after the others close by), but sometimes 4.30am is OK. It’s often the last bar in the strip to shut. Better to get in a little earlier though if you can.

Actually, there is a male-dancer gar bar called Tarzan in lapu lapu, here’s the address – Quezon National Highway, Lapu-Lapu City (upstairs from the PREVIOUS Mermaid bar). The mamasan was a little pushy for drinks and most of the dancers seemed tired. There were mostly 6 and 7’s but I did see ONE who was around a 10.

I had a lot of fun here, the girls were very friendly and playful. They called the “Koreans” cockroaches and some would hide when a group came in.

I agree totally. This bar is for sure the nicest and most classy bar in Mango area. Lots of pretty girls and so far i have only good things to say about the place. RECOMENDED!!!!
Sisters is one of my all time favourites ! Always have a good time there, and mamasan Judy is superb ! I can’t rate this little bar highly enough, and have made some great friends there.
Apparently Black Hole has now been sold, and under new management. It has also been renamed Hotrod. Seems like there might be some sort of imnprovement to the bar and the atmosphere.
Love City is OK to have one drink and watch the girls dance. Some of them can really dance and get into it, but as far as the dancers mingling with the customers, there is none of that, and the girls mostly sit together on their own. It is expensive for drinks, and the BF is 4,000 NOT 3,000 as previously posted, and really very much overated. I will go there again, to watch the shows, but that is it. There are a lot better bars around to have fun in.
The “Black lights” along the back wall of the bar need to go! five minutes under there and you can’t see a thing your eyes are hurting too much. Not much atmosphere in there for my liking.

Bit of a mixture – some covert operations are generally required. Look at the vigilante actions of the young lady in “viking next door”. You can ask permission, but generally if there is a Filipino manager you will be turned down for fear they might lose their job. But it’s FREE advertising I hear you say – indeed my friend, I agree – but consider..
1) Many of the girls have BF’s both Filipino and Foreigner. This can result in something somewhere between a rather embarassing issue and a heart attack when their loved one stumbles across pictures of their nearest and dearest up to no good.
2) Same for foreigners and bar go-ers when they get caught by their GFs back at home!
3) Bars are NOT allowed to have any nudity, bar fine etc – all against the law. Of course, a few Pesos in the right direction seems to buy a degree of immunity with the authorities – but for the bar to blatently advertise it might also cause issues.
Generally though, management dont mind guys taking a few snapshots with the phone – start setting up tripods though and you should expect them to lose a little enthusiasm.

Hi I am reasonably familular with Cebu how ever yet to find Stripes…….On Escario, about 1 mins walk from the Golden Peak hotel – short taxi ride from Mango. I tried both ways on Escario …Is it a back entrance please? Maybe 1 San Mig to many….

Cheers for that – try this. 1st of all take said bottle of San Mig lite and replace with a Red Horse. After drinking several of these you will always find yourself in a bar as if by magic!
Solution 1
Stand outside Golden Peak and drink Red horse – Stripes is the closest bar so the red horse should carry you to it without further bother
Solution 2
If for any ridiculous reason the above does not work, go to Golden Peak and go out in the Rd. Face the OPPOSITE direction to Ayala (i.e. face the main junction and traffic lights just 30 meters away). Now walk straight – cross the junction. Stripes is set back about 20m from the main road on the right, behind a Filipino grill. After the junction carry on straight for about 50 – 100 meters and you will see it there on the right,

There is a new bar in Escario Street called Blue Angels Bikini Bar. Its a new bar just in front of Cebu Pensione plaza near Shell petrol station and McDonalds. Last time i was there there were about 20 girls and the mamasan is Tina from Blackhole. Its a lot better than stripes because its twice the size and has a nice billiard table and a big LCD screen TV. Nice girls as well some from Blackhole and a lot
of new ones as well. Pricing is about the same as per Stripes.

I know the owner and I can guaarantee you that there are no girls in that bar performing sex acts. That above comment sounds like an out and out lie of sabotage or just some flip pissed off because he wants to dress anyway he wants. I think the dress code there is resonable. If they did not have some kind of dress cose the place would tuen into a place that no foreigner would want to go. Also, the girls there are all above average in my opinion at lease and with not one dog or unattractive girl. More than I can say about most bars in Cebu. The food is also probably the ebst I have ever had in Cebu. Its is American food with Italian. the burgers are unmatched so far as i have seen.

Mark……..Try fuente pension house Llorente Street (3 minutes from Mango square), often fully booked so go around 12 mid day as even if people checking out same day they will say its fully booked. Also opposite is apple tree pension house P990 a night. New hotel in the small arcade between Llorente and mango said to be good at P950.

Was there about a month ago. Correct it has a history of frequent ownership changes, was owned by a German now a Brit.
Few senior Aussies and a German well tanked when I visited, about 10pm, nothing happening upstairs. Food was brought in for customers in small plastic bags and transferred on to plates…Hmm say not more…… Maybe now its changed.
For a smoker whom likes to listen to stories…..maybe OK to chill out for a bit, if your a non smoker (like me) forget it, you will suffocate under five minutes.

Well Ive been to Hot Rod once and probably not going back there anymore. I agree that it is a classy place but the policies are really crappy.
First of all you cant touch or even hold a girls hand if you haven’t paid the barfine. I mean no matter how much LD you give her you can only look at her if you have no intention on barfining her, what a crappy policy! and if you don’t look like a big shotor a jap then expect to be snubbed by the mamasans!

I was there last month (Feb 09) and totally agree with Badger. I think it is the worst bar on Mango and I would not go there again. If you are not Korean, Japanese, or a really big spender, they really don’t want you.

This is the nicest bar in Cebu I have been to. I have been in Cebu many times. The girls are very friendly, and you can hold and touch the girls. Maybe Cowboy and bandger were too drunkd. I met the owner nice guy, he said some times owners of other bars put up the bull shit. I am an American and I will keep going there. There are many dumps for badger and Cowboy to go to.

kinda true,, i belong to the last part..the career oriented.. just to give balanced not all are lesbians, they don’t pay close attentions to expat or foreigners for a lot of reasons:
1. There is a notion that foreign guys go out with prostitutes, they find it disgusting.
2. They have bad experience with foreign guys, rude, inexplicable and language difference esp. Germans and Swiss
3. Most Girls they knew who married Foreigners are house maid, perhaps they have an ego that they don’t want to belong to the same category. ( little mean but that’s what majority thinks)

I do not agree about blue angels being much better than stripes as far as I am concerned angels does not come close. stripes has a great design and layout with some class and creative design. I also think it is much more professionally run. When i was in angels I felt very ucomfortable and it was all pinoy with many cops. Can’t even see the drinks they make you doing it under the counter. It is not twice as big as stripes either. The stripes food is the best I have has so far anywhere as american food goes, Just my opinion and who the hell am I anyway!!!!
I was recently at Hot Rods and I tell you that this is the best gentlemens bar by far. Aside from the wonderful decore, comfortable, white leather seats and well positioned dance floor the staff were simply outstanding and the atmosphere is electrifying. The ladies were so welcoming that it blew my socks off and the drinks were always cold and prompt and at a great price. Outstanding service from all the waitress and Mamasan was professional and warm as well. I and my friends could not fault this club one bit for it was close to eutopia. If you show your respect and kindness it will be returned tenfold. Thank you Mamasan Josie, Yuki, Wella, Jane and all the ladies for a memorable time in Cebu. Ladies dont forget the fire and feather dance for I will be back. A must see venue when in Cebu. 10/10

Mike. They had girls upstairs but only for two months as a trail but now it is back to its usual westerner bar.

I do know the owner since he bought the bar two years ago ( No owner changes ) and have lived in Cebu for over 4 years. Marc is selling athe moment as he wants to take his little boy and girlfriend to England. It has also been the busiest westerner bar in town for the last 6 months.

There is an improvement in Hot Rod compared to when it was black hole but that would not be hard to do. B H had a really bad assortment of girls and the last time I was there right before it was sold they did not have one goodlooking girl there. Now they are with Tina the former mamasan at a place called Blue Angels on escario. That is one of the worce bikini bars I have ever been in, which figures since it is run and owned by a Pinoy. Small unfriendly and you can not see the stage from the bar which is really a service bar anyway. Back to Hot Rods, I am not impressed with the rediculous prices…. and the girls are nothing special. “Tourist Trap”

I went to the Philippines for 4 days, drank red horse non stop….and as a result I have a 5″ scar on my leg. Split my leg wide open down to the muscle wrecking my motorcycle. It’s still my favorite beer. The red horse you find in the U.S. isn’t as good though.

I have eaten many times here and have found the food quite good. I always eat spicy shrimps or a fish dish, my companion eats all sorts. To date never had a problem with a crook stomach.
Price is good, San Mig lite always available, only hassel is sitting near the road the kids bother you, if staff see this they shoo them off.
Waiters are mostly friendly especially the senior guy with glasses, once they know you they really look after you.
Just hope these previous posts were a one off experience…..
i tried it in the philippines and get it now in the us it is alot more expensive 11.00 for 6 bottles.

At Dimples, if you ask to barfine a girl and have her stay all night, the mommasan will come up to you and state that you have to pay another 1000P on top of the regular barfine, which I believe was 1900P (1000P to the girl). I told her that if that was the case, I would take my business elsewhere. There are plenty of girls available at other bars a few feet away with different pricing policies. I got up to leave and she told me to calm down. I paid the original barfine amount. The girl I picked performed well in my room, and I think I tipped her 1000P in the morning + taxi fare. I don’t mind paying for performance, I just feel that paying it all upfront leaves NO incentive for the girl to put out any effort.
The same scenario applies to Lonestar, where the girls often quote 2700P barfine amounts.
I asked one girl at Sisters if she could spend the night with me if I barfined her. She said yes. I then asked what time did she have to leave in the morning. She said “12 or 1″.
I paid her barfine, and at 12:30AM, she told me she had to go home, as she lived with her parents, and they would be worried about. She was a nice girl, so I didn’t fight the issue too much, but I certainly couldn’t have made my intentions more clear about me wanting her to spend the night with me.

Went there Monday night, There where lots of girls and really not mant customers. Had to buy Mamasan a drink. $400 pecos along with the dancer drink, another $400. then I met a young woman that was absolutly gorgeous. The mamasan said I could spend short time for $5000 pecos or take her with me for $7000 which was split with the dancer.The girl was friendly but not really that into it, so it wasn’t really exciting.No yum you,just boom boom. she wanted the lights off and no fingers inside.All in all, just ok and very expensive. Wll go back but will break it down to the mamasan next time to exactly what I want, and will find out up front.

everythime i go to cebu first thing in mind is visit the most friendly bar in town and yes thats lonestar.girls,mamasan,waitress,and the bar owner treat u right.they will not rip u off(unlike other bars).makes me no wonder why lonestar is one of the best bar in cebu.

me I also had some quite nice nights up there. Only problem is that they hire minors to work in this bar. There was a raid on May 13 2009 and 56 Bar girls were rescued. Among them some of minor age.

I was at Egypt Wednesday night when it was raided. Not many customers there and that was good i guess. They came in like gang busters, a whole bunch of people and this asshole from the IJM an american guy I think who has been scouting the bars to raid. I have seen him before in the bars. They notify the cops the child protection dept what ever that is and they than get a undercover cop to bar fine a girl and that is their excuse to take all the girls in and see if any are underage.I think they are on a hunt now with all the bars. Bar owners should be careful now. No need for underage anyway.

No food as said they renovating the kitchen, bit sad as reports on food were good. The bar man was real friendly and spoke excellent english, nice guy.
The girls were mostly older and and not so…slim…..many were super loud and coarse…Maybe it was me as early (about 9.30pm)and just 1 bottle s.m. Having said that there were a couple of cuties One of which I brought a ladies drink…she told me its P160 which I can live with. My beer was P60 OK lang.
Very friendly girl and a looker, still it was super quiet, apart from a sullen looking gentlemen with a short ( think the owner) in the corner I was the only long nose. Music was nice and not loud, the tumbok girls dancing on stage did nothing at all for the club and less for me.
Decor I thought was dated but OK, anyway if one has several s.m that does not matter. Sofas were cosy.
Only problem was payment when they told me ladies drink for a s.m is P200, I objected and explained girl said P160….Oh she is new she does not know…reply…well I do not want problem for the girl how ever my comments on the bar will be posted on the net…Reply from the mamasan…OK no problem but its P200 for the s.m sir.
All in All relaxing and a break from mango, just be sure to clear the ladies drink first…

Let me get some things straight here. I do not know what you are mark but you seem to be a real ASS. The owner has not been in Stripes since last year and he is the financier not really the owner.
The kitchen is temporarily closed because of serious weakening of some support beams for the main floor that run inside the kitchen ceiling that had to be fixed and it was time consuming.
The girls are NOT fat or old.
Who cares about Blue Angels They have no business anyway and the girls leave much to be desired. The place is the same size as Stripes not twice as big or even close.
The management as well as staff has no fraternization with any of the dancers as strictly forbidden.

no offense to the dancers, but this is by far the worst bar in cebu. the waitress simply won’t leave you alone and it’s really annoying when they constantly pressure you for overpriced ladies drinks the minute you sit down. asking them nicely to go away only lasts for a minute, then they are back with two ugly girls asking for a drink. I’ve been there multiple times over the years and only go at the insistence of a newbie visitor that really wants to see for himself. It only takes 5-minues and they start saying it was a huge mistake, let’s quickly finish our beer, and leave. hopefully, someday this bar will change but until then it’s one to avoid.
I’ve been to this bar several times and i would agree that, although most of the girls are little more mature in age and hold some extra weight, the attitudes and friendliness of the bar (dancers, barstaff, mamasan, owners) make it a nice place to start the evening or finish one off. There is seldom any drink pressure at all and I’ve always found at least one entertaining gal with which to hold a decent conversation. Sometimes, you can find a real cutie here but not very often. If the owners would simply hire more young and sexy girls plus let them do more dancing, I’d be here every night cause the rest of the bar operation is just great.
Nice website. I wish that barfine and drink prices were published for every bar listed here. Saying the barfine is “normal” or drink prices are “typical” isn’t specific enough. I’m sure everyone would like clear information, such as “the barfine is P1750 total, with P750 paid directly to the bar and P1000 paid to the girl. Had a great time here with one of the best dancers. She was a little older but worth the time. This bar did not push too much for ladies drinks but sometimes would deliver one without asking.
the girls are not under aged…just look like they are. Very skinny and bouncy. each one is very smart and well trained to get your money and leave at 2am complaining about their baby back home or some other bs. The girls actually scared me with how much game playing they are skilled at.
Warning: the club has shows that include dancers in DRAG. Not for the feint of heart and dont expect that you’ll meet a nice “inexperienced” girl to rescue. Never going to happen in this place of professionals.

Absolutley LOVE City has mostly underage girls and most people know it. they do not get raided by the Police or the DSWD because they are SCARED to do so!!! The place is owned by a notorious, wealthy, well connected man that they dare not cross. Same owner as Volvo and Thunderdome They are just to scared.. The authorities will raid the other bars that are not so powerful. is it not refreshing to see how the cops are keeping Cebu City safe from crime by raiding bars!

I know most of the girls from Asian Flower and former Blackhole. I went to Blue Angel, and doubt I will return. It just seem too expensive for what they have to offer. The bar gets the p750. Then the girl will tell you her amount. This is standard practice in a lot of bars there. The only place you are going to get a girl for p750 is off the street or in one of the barangays, and then that’s only p500 to p700. Always practice safe sex !!!
Arena is well over priced and can easily cost you 1000 pesos for entry fees, viewing fees, and one beer.
It cost money for woman to sit with you and it cost even more money for drinks and to take her home. The best looking (in my opinion) are the so-called visiting Manila Models. The same ladies you can meet in Makati for half the price. Im sure one complete night at Arena would cost the same as airfare, hotel and a model in Manila.

Interesting bar. For me personally not one of my favorite bars but all my friends swear by the place and generally stay the longest being entertained by the numerous girls. Interesting comment about the Koreans because I believe they always get the best attention in this place. I have never had much luck in finding the right girl for me here which is strange because there are plenty of attractive girls; I think their attitude is not always the greatest and that’s why I don’t bar fine. Anyway, my mates love the place and that’s what makes this world of ours rock; we are allowed to have different opinions.
When I first moved to Cebu some 5 years ago you would swear by this place but as with everything things go around in full circles.
It’s now a bar that you will struggle to find many decent girls and that because there’s not much to choose from in numbers.

Squid – yes this is most certainly true and does happen often. However, it does not happen too often with girls from the bars. You will mostly likely have this type of experience with a girl off the streets. Personally, I’ve never had this happen to me, but heard plenty of stories so I stick to only bargirls.

It’s a bar that I would use just to break things-up slightly. Wouldn’t stay for more than a beer unless something pretty new and exceptional hit the floor. Bar Fines are expensive
Now too Dimples – I like this bar and can be pursuaded to spend the extra for the bar fine because my experiences have always been good. The girls and waitresses are very friendly and not too pushy. I would give it a thumbs up
This place is a ‘dive’. Amazingly boring with the most awful seating arrangement you can imagine. Do yourself a favor guys and stay away. The comments about the owner is correct and there are girls underage.
Stripes has always suffered with ugly, ugly girls and an awful atmoshere. The owner dosn’t even take the time to introduce himself. Its going to be intersting with a new launch; they have a lot of work to do in capturing peoples business again.
Its known as ‘The Graveyard’ because its where all the old/fat/ugly girls end up working. It is true that some of them have great attitudes but its tough looking straight at them, lol

Its certainly not the busiest western bar in town but it is a good bar to start your rounds. The staff are friendly the beer is cold and reasonably priced. No girls here but thats not the point; its a drinking bar.
That is nonsence stripes girls were as good or better than the other bars. The owner was always pleasant to me but he tried to keep low profile. He was very busy in the kitchen and having difficulty training a cook to his standars for western food he seems very fussy and I will tell you that the food there was some of the best I have had in the city. I found the atmosphere better and more friendly than most of the other bars. The staff all spoke good english which is refreshing. I saw them doing quite well for the time they have been open. I do not know who expat is but the things he says are completly false. I found the owner to be quite pleasant and hard working as I know him from going there many times. No hard pressure to buy lady drinks and I like that its is cozy and i feel like Im in my living room when there with the carpet. everone entitled to their opinion, but I hate it when people say untrue unfare things.

By far the best bar in Cebu. Friendly girls, great atmoshere and an owner who invests in his customers.
In terms of looks the girls are not always the best but then again they are very far away from being the worst. Attitude is wonderful, very playful.

Massive Korean bar owned by the same guy as Hot Rod and thus has similar looks.
Girls are in general reasonably attractive and good fun to know. Never been upstairs yet not having felt the urge.
Would put it on my roster of places to go but know many other guys that wouldn’t. Pretty hit or miss sometimes.
Two things you most remember about this place.
1. The girls are very beautiful; there is no way you cannot find something you dont like.

Since Silver Dollar had a new owners now, things changed inside and out. Well, good thing though, because the new owners now are very much devoted to their new owned bar in Cebu, Philippines. One things lacking to their outmost personality and as new manager of their own establishment, knowing your business is here in the Philippines, and you’re workers are mostly or 100% Pilipinos, you should at least be sensitive enough to their feelings as well as to their rights to reason out, Customers are always right, we all know that, but that doesn’t mean that they are always right to extend that they already been stepping into someone who have been working there, just because they weren’t satisfied or they weren’t able to get what they wanted for the reason that it wasn’t as what have been agreed on between the guest and the worker there. End up putting stories on the worker making bullshits that Pilipinos are liars and all, and worst lost the job in an undesirable manner. Hope that in some ways you’ll be considerate enough to hear their side and not always on your own race side. This is Philippines, not America.

The chicks there were certainly not ugly and I think it is managed better than most bars. Your the same guy that made positive remarks about Dimples? LOL! that place is a over priced boring uncomfortable bar if I ever saw one. Let people draw their own conclusion. By the way, none of the bars are busy and thunderdoom even closed which has been there a long time. I was in hot rods a few Saturdays ago and 5 customers at 11 30 went to sisters and the same or worse went to strips and they had 9 not a lot but better than the former. I have no personal gain either to make from my posts, but I have lived here long also and I was always treated very well by the staff. One thing about stripes I like is they have o tolerance for girls without health cards and they get fired out quickly if they do not get it as I was told. All bars have dips in getting pretty girls that are reliable. As I said before, the girls are not and never have been ugly at least the times I was there. I think this threat is enough now anyway.
I agree with Mark. This guy expat seems to be a real hockey puck. When I was there months ago the first time, I asked them where they got all the good looking girls. Several weeks later I went there and the girls quality was down a little and fewer of them but still better than most other bars. My favorite girl was gone. I was told that management lost patients and fired many girls out for lacking health cards. At least they are watchful for the customers health. I like Stripes and it is clean especially the CR’s They never give you exact measured shots like all the other bars, but close to double. I am a Jack Daniels drinker and I appreciate that! The food is the best you can get here. The good words the owner of this site reviewed about stripes made me go there and he seems to be accurate on all his reviews. Yes, the food is fantastic.

This is the worst of all the Mango Ave bars. Horrible seating, poor organization with only 1 or 2 girls dancing at a time & the rest sitting off by themselves or in the back and the most expensive in the area with overpriced drinks and P4,000 barfines. There really is absolutely no reason to even enter this bar.
The Koreans may like this bar because they don’t know any better and a few of the girls can speak some of their language so if you are Korean and like to pay double price to be a bigshot and stroke your ego, by all means go here. It will give the Koreans the same satisfaction they get in their own country when they pay W150,000 (about $120) for a bottle of Jack Daniels in a Korean cocktail bar. Koreans love to overpay and act like they are little Kings for a night. It’s their culture. They think if you pay more then the quality must be better. lol.
Actually the owner is quite smart and has made a niche bar to exploit them. For everyone else with a brain, all the other bars on Mango Ave are a much better option. Actually I hope the Koreans keep going here and stay out of the other Mango bars. We don’t need fools overpaying everywhere else and raising the prices.
Hot Rods is kind of a snooty bar IMO. My crew went in there and in front of us the doorman wouldn’t let another guy in because he was wearing a tank top. Once we got in, the girls just weren’t very interested in us despite there being no other customers. This was the only bar I’ve ever had a bargirl say she didn’t want a ladies drink from me. One of the waitresses there told us a lot of the girls preferred Asians for their money. No worries…we took our pesos elsewhere. Had they given us a try, they would have found our little group isn’t cheap and spends a lot. Doubt I’ll ever go back here.
Oh yeah, I saw the guy in the tank top later that night at Lone Star buying 7 or 8 girls drinks and I think he barfined two of them. Hot Rods missed out on about 10,000 pesos from that guy and at least double that from us. Stupid bar.

Read all the previous comments some by surprise. I was there last week and met both the new owners; One married to a Filipino and the other moved to Cebu in June same Filipino girl friend for two years. They nice friendly guys. Asked them about the cock roach problem, they said in the past never fumingated like other clubs now they fumigate every two weeks. They know the web site must be updated and will be in the very near future. I saw big changes for the good: better looking young girls, some of the old decor has been updated. They used to have these ugly faces around the bar now flags of the world much better. Happy hour from noon to 9pm also a plus.
I spent time with two of the girls there before bar fining one of them.
They love the new owners. In the past now toilet paper was in there comfort room now there is, Used to us a buck it to wash in and flush the toilet now new toilet that flushes and a since with soap to wash in. Keep the good changes comming.
Upstairs is a office not sure why Cebuexpat would want to go upstairs? To me they cater the Japanese. The rules regarding touching suck. Not my kind of bar.

I think this is the best bikini bar in Cebu Now. There has been upgrades made to the decor and exterior from the new owners (Max & Carl). These guys really make you feel at home and are very pleasant to all the i have noticed.
They’re are new girls and the prices are very good.
My suggestion to all is go have some fun at the Silver Dollar you won’t be disappointed.

I would agree that stripes is OK for a few hours. The girls I have met there were at least average with some stunners. Just this food issue is the problem, having read about the great treats and being there several times over the past 2 months I have as yet to try even a morsel…..Always something else, kitchen problem or renovating or what ever. Still guess one does not go there for the food alone…

i have been to all the uptown bars, and i have to say CLUB TEMPTATION is my favorite place. the layout of the club is nice, the dance floor winds thru the middle,giving every one a decent view.the staff and management are friendly.(steve)the bartender is very good at his job! in over 3 months of partying in club temptation i never had a problem with my bill. the owner, TROND from norway,is a GOOD guy,who likes to chat and (DRINK) with the guests.PLEASE NOTE** the ladies are discouraged from agressively pressuring (attacking) customers for ladies drinks. after experiencing that in some of the other bars,a first time visitor to temptation may get the wrong impression to this low key aproach.butif you see a girl you would like to talk to,and YOU WILL. just tell your waitress,she will bring the lady to your table.yes this club is popular with japanese and koreans. but all are welcome here,and i never saw any trouble in the club.if i had to find something to complain about, it would be that they try to have all the dancers wear the same dress,and charge the girls a nightly fee for the (pleasure) of wearing exactly the same thing as the next girl.(variety of dress is what id like to see in a bikini bar). overall, if you are planning a night of bar hopping on mango ave,club temptation is just around the corner from the caltex and is difinitely worth a look. many bikini bars dont start heating up till after 9 pm.but if you come out to play early, hit the el gecko resto bar (infront of the caltex) for drink or three,hehe

Sorry to hear that this bar has gone downhill since 2003 when I use to hang out here and at the upstairs bar. Back then both places, particularly upstairs, were really going strong and had many lookers.
When Black Hole first opened (2003?) it was the hottest bar in Cebu. Now all my friends say the place really sucks. Sad but I still have my memories of the lovely Raquel……….

Guys I recently visited the Silver Dollar Bar on Jones St in downtown Cebu and with the new owners and the upgrades and hiring of new beautiful girls it is my pick for the best bikini bar in all of Cebu.
Beer is extremely cold, the food is very good and best of all the prices are excellent.

been there last night, mamasan told me, lady drink is 250p but only for 30min, and u need buy a drink for mamasan at 1st lady drink, so, the 1st lady drink is 500p. and the barfine is 5500p, and also have a short time room its 4000p include girl’s fee. have many girls there, they will sit at back of customers area, even they don’t dance. so, you can see all the girls there when you just walk in.
but, have 1 thing is no good. when the waiter show me the bill, he don’t write the price on my bill. when i ask, he start to write down.
i been there 2times, at 1st time, i only spend 2beer fee, over 200p, so, they don’t charge me enter fee, the enter fee is 200p. and i sit there watching girls dance long time, i feel happy that time. because, i watching 4hr sexy dance only spend me 248p, or something like that, i forget.
2nd time, i ask the mamasan how much the price etc. and she told me lady drink is 300p for 1hr. but, she ‘forget’ to tell me 1st lady drink need charge 1 lady drink for mamasan, when i check the bill i found out this. and i buy 2beers too. and that cost me 11xxp this time. i don’t know why is not 300×2+248p=848p, maybe they charge me 200p for enter fee and tax for government!!
they told me have 2 kind of girl there, 1 is cebu girl, lady drink is 300p. barfine is 6000p. another is manila girl, lady drink is 600p, barfine is “8000p”. wow!! much better i barfine a girl at manila ktv bar.

In cebu at the moment on biz, I can attest to the potency of this stuff… Back home a casual night involves 8-12 beers/shots and gets worse from there. This stuff though…. First night tried one at the end of the night, thought to myself “tastes great!” Next day had it exclusively drinking at my standard pace, not the best of ideas… At some point after the 7th I came to realize that it was time to get my butt off the streets LOL. I’m out here by myself and not familiar with the area, even well on the path to inebriation I realized becoming stupid drunk would be a bad idea. Everyone should try one as it is a great beer though.

I have to agree, this is not a fun bar and never will be if they keep the same attitude. Yes the girls strip, but seem bored by the whole thing and it is one of the very few bars I have ever been in where the girls do not greet you and smile. Like a fool I ordered a plate of peanuts, about half a pack, and was charged 80 peso for the privilige. Quickly finished my drink and went next door to Papillion which has a far friendlier atmosphere. A bar to miss.

The average price is 1700pesos barfine. Some are a bit higher, 2500pesos and the really high priced places are usually where the Korean’s go, buts worth a look and a beer, but if they have an entrance fee I wouldn’t bother. Beer is about 100pesos($2usd) and ladies drinks range from 150-250pesos. HAVE FUN !

Ray . . I have been in your Koala club Jan of 2009 I think) and I would give it a rating of 1/5. Price is great but it seemed dingy, hot, girls did not take off much clothing when dancing and did not dance well, girls were not the best lookers, Crowded with Filipino men who seemed to be keeping a close eye on my wallet when I paid the bill. Perhaps it is best looked at as a ‘take out’ bar or perhaps I was there on a bad night.

Was there last week. Still good looking girls with a mix of western and asian clients. They do some great shows and for something a little different from the Mango offerings well worth a visit
The crew that run this place are great, they are friendly and approachable. The girls are indifferent at the moment (whats this lollipop thing all about). Some are attractive and some are less pleasing to the eye. Last few times I have been in here the place has been very slow but then at least you get the choice of the crop. I would still stick it on my rounds.
OK, this is a disco targeted at predominately local clientel. Entrance is cheap, beer is cheap and the furnishings are cheap. Do not let that put you off.
There are some great looking girls to be had here. Some are genuinely normal girls having a fun night out whilst others are out to capture business.
I love sitting outside the club watching and chatting to the passing talent; in general I would always have a good night.

Regarding the comments of pissed above. The price of beer went up to 75 The price of a ladies drink now 300 (are they crazy) The price of a barfine 3000… you decide, but Mango ave looks much better to me now, and the new owners will not be taking out their problems on me !!!!!!!!!

Absolutely correct Torn, I visited there last week. Shocked by the attitude of the new owner, what goes into his head charging so much and giving so little. Stripes was good before but no more, the new mamasan has worked in every conceivable bar in Cebu. I know her well and do not particularly like her. But the point you make is correct, at P75 a beer is crazy, who in the right mind would pay P3000 for one of those girls….
The new owner just sits in the corner sucking san migs all night and dreams he will make a fortune.

Prices are good, amd ladies drinks are cheap, like 170???. Been there when the girls are cute and then again thats not always true…Once you buy them a drink and tease them a little yhey will get freindly, and may even “show you” some interesting south of the border things…They are always friendly and you dont need to ask for someone as they will just come over. Bar fines are cheap enough, but they have a rule that you need to buy one ladies drink also.

Club Mermaid is the best bar i’v ever been… I feel at home with the warm receptions from the Floor Mngr, EnEn!!! Im always speechless when she approach and talks to me… A very marvelous lady indeed! The Staff.., (Dancers, GROs, Waiters and the rest are all accommodating, pleasing and takes care of you when you need them… Keep it up!!! It’s 1 place in Lapulapu City that i highly recommend when I have friends here and abroad who wants to enjoy ’til the wiey hours of 3am., especially during Fridays and Saturdays!!! Marc has finally sold El Gecko and it has been under new ownership since 9/15. No big changes are currently taking place except for a major cleanup of the facility and letting all the old and new girls get used to Lorraine who is managing the place. Lorraine speaks a few dielects and also speaks english very good and has a great personality.
The upstairs is not going to go back to being a girl bar since the bar needs more room to cater to the local expats and to those visiting that would like to relax by themselves or with their girl.
The kitchen will be moving upstairs in about a month so the downstairs bar can be expaned. The hours of operation will change when this is done so the menu can change to also serve a breakfast menu along with a hamburger and sanwich menu.

The owner, first name after a well know long boot is very well connected and owns two other bars outright plus has an interest in a few more. I went to the bar and waited and waited and waited to be served, 5 minutes of not even a good evening or a hello , let alone what are you drinking I left. I will not be going back anytime soon.

i have had the Koala Club for a number of years as i try to do my best to improve the appearance but it is a little hard to manage from another country “as for the girls taking there clothes off” i encourage not to as being a filipino bar you can never tell who is watching(NBI CIDG and police) i have never had any problem with the customers

I visited over the weekend, as wannabe said, very expensive, dancers old, and the owner on the always giving you queer looks.you cannot sit down and have a quite beer or talk without being hassled,Thought place would come right with new owners, but it has gone backwards. Great little bar for a super cold beer and conversation with expat Aussies, yanks etc. Lorraine the manager is really friendly and the bar staff are very cute and efficient, see: Amy! Bob the loud Aussie at the end of the bar is a charachter but can be a real pain in the arse when he gets a gut full of piss.. overall good food and plenty of atmosphere 8/10.

This place is overpriced. I’m an American doctor and can ‘afford’ the experience but I feel its truly not worth it. I mean…your in the Philippines. If you want to pay Japanese and Korean prices…then I suggest you visit their instead. You could honestly fly to Manila/Makati and bar fine a beautiful model for the price of one night at the Arena. The inside of the bar is not very nice and they have many lady boys. Volvo KTV is another price trap to avoid.

I found this one to be too expensive for me. Not that it is hugely expensive but there are so many lower cost places. It is worth a visit if you are staying in the area but I would not go out of my way to visit there again.

The owner of Temptation and some other bars
is only about short money.
The most brainwork he does is how to manipulate
the minds of the girls, so they trick the foreigners in his name (even so they don’t like it, but they have to do so, if they like it or not).
Which means, if you get close to a girl which is working there (even the waitress), they will get the advice sooner or later to rip you off.
Some of them just tell you, that somebody stole their wallet and they lost everything, so you just feel pity about her and give her money.
At least, this money will be shared with the other girls there, but of course, the most part goes for the owner.
There are also some other tricks to press out some cash (like…my mother is sick, or i am sick and need money for medicine…and so on).
Actually, that’s not the idea of the girls themselves.
After the bar is closed, they all have to stay there sometimes for another hour and then they just get brainwashed about the business.
And of course they don’t wanna loose their job…

I was very disappointed during my first and only visit. The quality of the girls were sadly lacking and most definitely not worth the price of a taxi ride from Cebu City. If you go here, you may very likely be the only customer in the place and friendly (yet unattractive IMO) girls will surround you looking for drinks. Don’t misunderstand, the girls have nice attitude and eager to ask you all the typical “where you from” questions. But unless you desire to waste money on drinks for the mamasan and girls hovering around, I found little reason to stay longer than my beer lasted. Drink up quick and go try a hole-in-da-wall club on Mactan called “Evening Bar” where there is usually at least one cute girl to enjoy in the short time rooms in back.
I heard both Egypt and Bounty bars were closed permanently and the buildings demolished. Has anyone actually visited these bars and can post recent photos somewhere? thx

Twice in the last week, i have been there and the mama and three different dancers tell me barfine is 700 for bar and 2000 for the girl — they would not negotiate and it was 2700 even for a short time. Been very happy with this bar many times in the past, but i think they lost a customer in me.

As of April 4, 2010 – Strips is open Monday-Saturday, closed Sunday (according to the sign on the outside of the bar). I drove by there tonight and it is open as advertised. Even though they say they open at 8PM, the girls don’t start dancing until around 9PM (or when customers arrive).

I found Stripes by accident in Nov 09 although i had heard it mentioned online….disparagingly.
I am experienced in Manila, Bangkok with these types of bars.
I had a great time. All the girls were acceptable but one (quickly mine!)was dead set lovely. And wearing just a tiny pair of knickers. Her price was fine and the barfine was too. Half at least Manila prices. Booze was good and priced well, including girls drinks. The barman was friendly and knowledgeable.

At Julianas disco I ordered a bottle of San Mig Pilsen and a bottle of Red Horse. The Red Horse tastes different but is certainly no stronger – 5% – 5.5% would be my educated guess as an alkie used to drinking a lot of beer. SMP – 5.5% – 6.0% I would say. To test my hypopotomus even further, on another nite I drank 12 bottles of Red Horse and did not even have a hangover. The nite b4 8 bottles of SMP had given me the mother of all headaches. Enjoy.

whats happened to the nightlife in cebu??? very quiet and bars are empty i toured around the other night and came across this great little bar called STRIPES. Its tucked away off the main mango area, but it was great. Girls are nice and friendly and goodlooking. what i noticed there is a great atmosphere and you felt welcome… enjoyable i stayed there for most of the night. will go back .

Love city is a very different bar to all the rest. The girls are young and generaly very pretty but they don’t try to be involved with the customers. Just wait to be called. Reminds me of an Indonesian fish bowl establishment in that respect. Big thing to say however is that a lot of the girls can really dance which is a bit different to all the other bars. and yes a large % end up naked at the end of their routine. The bar fine (all in) is still very steep at 4000 but the beer is no more expensive than the other bars just oddly priced (174 for a san) Ok place if you just want to watch pretty girls get naked.
Loanstar is perhaps the best in Cebu, the girls are not all great looking but some are really pretty and all are very friendly and definately not shy. Drinks prices are about average and yes the Pizza is great. bar fines are only 700 and you pay the girl what you think she is worth!

just found this site so i guess i can comment on this place because i visited it last year in september 2009, and im sure i will be going back later this year. Love City is ok, and i took another girl in with me which is always nice so that the girls dont try to push you around. Hi went to Cebu a couple of weeks ago it’s ok. Tried silver dollar but could not find any honies I liked and then tried Viking which seemed ok barfined a nice looker 1500P till the next day afternoon did also tip her about 600 Peso.
